Congratulations to Phillip, winner of the 2008 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

Phillip Dutton was named the U.S. Eventing Association’s Rider of the Year for the ninth time in 2007. That year, he walked away with the highest U.S. placing at Rolex Kentucky CCI, the team gold and individual silver medals at the Pan American Games, and the U.S. Equestrian Federation CCI*** championship at Fair Hill, each time riding a different horse. In 2007, he had 117 placings on 31 different horses—22 at advanced, 30 at intermediate, 35 at preliminary, 26 at training, and four at novice. Phillip is a two-time Olympic gold medalist.

Congratulations to Mary and Shiloh for winning the 50-mile Biltmore Challenge CEI ***/** on May 5th.  Shiloh also won the 50-mile Best Conditioned award.

Mary Howell of New Kent, Virginia is an accomplished endurance rider and member of the USA East Endurance Team in 2001 and 2003. She has partnered with her half-Arabian AM Baskin Count Shiloh over the last eight years. Together they've completed over 3,500 endurance miles, including numerous Top 10 finishes, 10 wins and more than a dozen one-day 100-mile rides. The pair has won eight endurance rides and has finished in the top ten on 28 occasions.  

On May 5, 2007, Mary and Shiloh placed first out of a field of 106 horses at the Biltmore 50, with a ride time of 4:32. Shiloh also received the coveted "Best Condition" award that combines ride time, rider weight and the horse's soundness and metabolics after the ride.

The racetrack isn't the place to find a slew of pudgy horses. After all, racehorses are sleek, fit athletes. But that fitness often comes at a price when racehorses transition into another career. Carrie Kieczkajlo owns Phoenix and Jake, two Thoroughbreds that have transitioned from the racetrack to a second career as hard-working field hunters. Though both horses needed to gain weight for optimal health, they were picky eaters and sometimes did not finish their grain meals. In addition to his persnickety appetite, Phoenix cribbed badly and was diagnosed with gastric ulcers.    

In an effort to overcome these problems, Carrie added Neigh-Lox to each of her horses' diets. Improvement occurred almost immediately. Both began to consume their meals more readily and Phoenix, the ardent cribber, is much less interested in cribbing. In fact, he's almost stopped the behavior entirely.
